Planning a Laser Processing Trial: What to Send with Your Enquiry
A useful laser processing enquiry starts with the part you need to make. Whether you are exploring copper patterning, custom apertures or a micromachining application, clear requirements help us define the next step and prepare a relevant quotation.
1. Describe the material and geometry
Include the material grade, thickness, coatings and any layered structure. Send a drawing or a non-confidential sketch showing the area to process, the smallest features and access restrictions. Tell us whether you can supply representative samples.
2. Define what a successful result looks like
List the critical dimensions, tolerances, edge and surface requirements, and any limits on changes to the surrounding material. If you already use another process, explain what needs to improve. A sample photograph can help communicate the problem.
3. Separate a feasibility trial from a production order
A trial answers whether an approach is suitable and what further development is needed. A production quotation also needs quantities, repeat-order expectations and inspection requirements. Share both your immediate prototype need and your expected longer-term volume.
4. Agree the trial scope before sending samples
We review the application, confirm the available laser configuration and agree the work to be quoted. The scope should identify the sample quantity, evaluation criteria and deliverables. Please contact us before shipping material; we can arrange an NDA before confidential drawings are shared.
5. Decide whether you need parts, engineering or your own laser
- Processed parts: start with our material processing and jobshop enquiry page.
- A custom optical system: explore laser and optical engineering.
- An OEM laser source: discuss PulseBrick, its current development status and your integration requirements.
